Your Buying Guide to Car Polishes

Your car is an extension of you as it reflects how  you make sure that what you own are spic and span.  You just don't drive your car just for the sake of reaching from point A to point B.  You keep you car clean so, that when others see it, they would know that you are a kept person.

And so, in this buying guide, we would discuss the different types of car polishes, what other buyers are saying, what to look out for and some of the most popular brands of car polishes in the market.

Types of Car Polishes

Natural Carnauba Wax

Carnauba is a substance that is produced by a palm tree that is found in Brazil.  It is processed by mixing it with turpentine r beeswax.  It gives a warm and deep shine to a car that has black or dark colored paint.  It is apt for protecting paint from contaminants and gives great water beading.  However, it wears of quickly compared to synthetic wax.

Synthetic Wax

This is also known as paint sealant.  It's made of polymers that can bond with the paint.  Most car owners prefer this because it lasts longer--12 months--depending on the brand you're using and the weather condition in your area .  Also, it provides good paint protection from the elements and is preferred by high-end car owners and showroom managers.

What Other Buyers Are Saying

When you buy a car wax or car polish, it depends on your preference on what you want to use on your car.  Do you want a product that last longer or do you want a polish that would give more shine to your car?  Also, read on the reviewers that other buyers have left to help you choose what you want to purchase.

Here are some feedback that a car polish received from its buyers:

Amazing !!! I accidentally buffed my aluminum bathroom frame whilst cleaning the shower door with an electric sander with the sanding paper way too coarse for the aluminum chrome surface (180 grit). I had done this accidentally, but having read DIY blogs, I learned that if I were to polish the aluminum chrome surface, I should have used much finer 1500+ grit, but I didn't know that. This mistake of mine left large dark grey patches, which no other solvent could remove. I had to persevere spent quite a bit of time to scrub off using Autosol on a microfibre cloth, but about a 1/3 of the grey patches came off completely, restoring the original shiny surface !!! I will have another go over the weekend, to try to remove the grey marks entirely, or I might try it with a finder sanding paper, if scrubbing does not remove the rest of the grey patches completely.

Superb metal polish , excellent for jewellery either Gold or Platinum it brings it up like new, simply use any old cloth even a tea towel, place that on a flat surface , put some Autosol on the ring and simply rub it up and down in the same area making sure you also include the sides, within a few minutes it will come up perfectly like new. Do not use this on any brushed steel surfaces unless you want to change it to a chrome effect finish! You can use this for anything chrome , taps, car wheels etc, it's brilliant and one tube will last ages , you only need a small amount each time.

Spied some of this sat on one of the benches, if it's good enough for some of the best in the world, it's more than good enough for me. Needed something tried & tested to polish my stainless steel exhaust tips.

What to Look Out for

Aside from choosing between natural and synthetic car polish, you need to select whether you would go for paste, liquid or spray car wax.  Choose one that is easy to apply, one that would last longer on your car and one that would protect your vehicle from the elements.
